Discovering Perito Moreno with a private guide

The spectacular glacier owes its name to Argentinian explorer Francisco Moreno and is the third largest freshwater reserve on the planet, surpassed only by the ice sheets of Antarctica and Greenland.

Perito Moreno is located in the Argentinian Patagonia, near the town of Calafate. Scientists estimate that it is approximately 18,000 years old.

Global warming is causing most glaciers to retreat, but the Perito Moreno glacier is an exception, advancing about 100 meters per year.
The glacier is world famous for its ice landslides. These occur when the front of the glacier, upon reaching the shore, obstructs the passage of the waters of the Brazo Rico arm. Then (it’s never possible to predict exactly when) the great pressure of the water gives rise to a filtration that culminates in the expected rupture.

Tour F takes you to enjoy one of the most spectacular nature formations in the world, in an intimate excursion with a private guide.
We pick you up at your hotel to take you in a private vehicle to the national park where the glacier is located.
During the journey through the Patagonian steppe you will learn more detailed information about this wonder of nature and we will stop to take pictures from strategic points.
Once inside the national park, accompanied by our guide, we will walk, at our own pace, the circuit of footbridges located on the north face of the glacier.
From there, you’ll be able to capture stunning close shots of the glacier, besides enjoying one of nature’s greatest spectacles: feeling and listening to the ice landslides.

The phenomenon is extraordinary: you can see the detachments of the ice blocks from very close by, listen to the roar they produce when splashing into the water and then watch them transformed into wonderful floating icebergs.
The observation of Perito Moreno from the footbridges is one of the most impressive experiences anyone can live.
Just sitting in silence on one of the benches to contemplate the immensity of the ice and its particular blue colour that shines in contact with sunlight, is an experience that will be engraved forever in your memory.
